What we do

Employment

Working with employment partners allows us to tailor a package that can meet a persons specific ambition and needs.

We have established some excellent working partnerships with organisations that include: Nottingham University Hospitals, East Midlands Airport, Ikea, Nottingham City Sports & Leisure and other smaller companies that provide equally valuable skills and opportunities in areas such as retail, catering, animal care and the creative industries.

We also recognise that barriers to employment may also be centred around associated skill areas such as travel training, money management, social skills, understanding, communication and time keeping and we offer support in these areas to ensure that a persons aspirations can be realised.

Skills for living

Many of the people Space Inclusive work with live independently of the family home in supported living or similar environments, or wish to do so in the future.

We work with people to develop their skills in every day practical activities and wherever possible use public transport. Assisting with household budgeting we also help in setting up, managing and maintaining well run bank accounts.

Our on site facilities include a fully equipped flat where people can learn household skills, such as washing, ironing, health & safety and home cleanliness.

Space Inclusive are passionate about maintaining and promoting healthy lifestyles. We have a practical, healthy eating programme where we help people learn new skills and develop existing ones, from making hot drinks to preparing realistic and healthy home cooked meals.

Social Skills

At Space Inclusive social skills are at the heart of everything we do. All staff members seek to support, and role model, positive relationships and social interaction in order to help people move on in their lives.

Our person centred programmes deliver a variety of activities and opportunities to help broaden horizons, give people a sense of achievement and help improve their confidence and self esteem.

We are committed to small group working as we firmly believe that being around other people helps develop social skills and strategies to manage and improve relationships. Space Inclusive actively promote healthy lifestyles, we encourage safe, appropriate relationships including all aspects of sexual health.

Our social programme is partly user led and includes creative activities such as arts and music, outdoor sporting activities and a range of community leisure experiences. As well as our day-to-day programme, Space Inclusive have in place a rolling evening programme of staffed social activities.
