Raleigh Good Fun

A group of clients who attend our Bike Club at Radford Boulevard have enjoyed a visit to the Raleigh bicycle factory. They went with Dave Bevan, Support Worker, and one of our Directors, David Bingham, and the trip was a huge success. One client, Tom, wrote about the visit and described being shown around by an enthusiastic employee…
“…First he showed us where and how they put together the wheels, each of which is hand-checked and signed off on before being sent out.

We were then shown the room where they put the bikes together and then checked over.

Finally, we were shown the show room where they keep several bikes, one of which was a gold plated bike that was made for Raleigh’s Centenary, and another which was the millionth Chopper to come off the assembly line (which was also gold plated). Overall it was a good day out and I, along with everyone else, thoroughly enjoyed it.”

Many thanks to the employees at the Raleigh factory for helping make the trip so memorable.

Bike Club

At Space Inclusive we have loads of great ways to engage our clients, and one at our Workspace site in Sherwood is the bike club.

The premise is really simple, it aims to help our clients learn more about bikes, whether it’s maintaining and repairing them, or riding them. The skills clients gain are numerous, from problem solving and team-work skills to some practical and vocational experience that can be used if clients are taking the next step to paid employment.

Our support worker, Dave Bevan, says “All the clients in the bike club get a huge amount out of it. They are learning new skills and are developing a real interest in bikes”.
